Carole Roper Jones, age 79 of Forest City died Saturday, May 10, 2025, at her residence.  Carole was born on September 15, 1945, in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Howard Roper and Janie Barrett Johnson.  She was a homemaker and a member of First Wesleyan Church of Forest City.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lawrence “Jake” Jones, her son, Gregg Jones, a daughter, Rhonda Jones Burnett and her step-father who raised her, Clevie Johnson.

Survivors include her daughter Cathy Jones Melton and husband Alvin of Spartanburg, her brothers, Charles Roper and wife Carol of Rutherfordton, Mike Johnson and wife Christy of Forest City and her son-in-law, Darrill Burnett of Rutherfordton.  There are also six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock on Friday, May 16, 2025, in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend Eric Yelton officiating.  Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1 until 2 o’clock prior to the service at the mortuary on Friday.
