Clarence Carmel Honeycutt, age 97 of Cliffside, North Carolina passed away peacefully Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Hospice of The Carolina Foothills in Forest City.
Carmel, as he was known to his family and friends was born April 12, 1925, in Avondale, North Carolina and was a son of the late Angus Edgar Honeycutt and Ollie Moree Honeycutt.
As a veteran of World War II, he served his country honorably in the United States Navy aboard the USS Robert E. Peary as a Petty Officer First Class. His tour of duty was in England, Ireland and France. Carmel was a 1950 graduate of Appalachian Teachers College and he retired from Grover Industries as a Data Processing Manager. He was a devout Christian and former choir member, Sunday school teacher and deacon with the Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Maryanne Honeycutt, his son, Harry Honeycutt and his stepson, Jesse Allen.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Bailey Honeycutt of the home, stepson, Gerald Morris Bailey and wife Joyce, stepdaughter, Janice Bailey Salinero and husband Tony, all of Tallahassee, Florida. There are also three step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
A private funeral service was held for the family in The Padgett and King Chapel in Forest City with interment in the Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery, Forest City.
