Billy Gene Melton age 82 of Bostic died Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Cherokee Medical Center in Gaffney, South Carolina from Covid 19.
Born October 30, 1938 in Rutherford County, North Carolina he was the son of the late Naam Champion Melton and Ola Murray Melton. He was a graduate of Ellenboro High School, worked for AGI for twenty-six years and later retired from Cone Mills. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Melton and Chivous Melton.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Tesseniar Melton; four daughters, Teresa Bullman of Ellenboro, Sharon Pruett and husband, Grady, Amy Melton Suhy, all of Forest City, Susan McCurry and husband, Fred of Bostic; three step-daughters, Lynne Greene of Bostic, Michelle Hawkins and husband, Bernie, Christi Spillman and husband, David, all of Forest City; two brothers, Norman Melton and Jimmy Melton and wife, Norma Kay, all of Ellenboro; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren also survive.
Graveside services will be held Friday, January 29, 2021 at 3 o’clock at the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Mike Conner and the Reverend Ad Hopper officiating. The body will lie in repose at the Padgett and King Chapel from 10 until 12 noon on Friday for those wishing to view and pay their respects.
