Beverly Joyner Obituary

Beverly Murray Joyner, age 82 of Ellenboro, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Born on November 25, 1943, in Wilson County, North Carolina. She was the beloved wife of B. Carson Joyner, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.

Beverly’s life was rooted in faith, family, and service. A lifelong resident of North Carolina, she grew up helping on the farm and learning early the values of hard work and devotion to others. At just 15, she began dating the love of her life, Carson, and the two were married when she was 20, beginning a partnership marked by deep affection, laughter, and a shared love of dancing.

In 1977, Beverly and Carson moved to Ellenboro with their children, a transition that required great courage as it took her away from much of her extended family. Yet, as she always did, Beverly made a home wherever she was planted. She poured herself into her community and church, teaching Sunday school, singing faithfully in the choir, and loving children with her whole heart.

Beverly worked in many roles throughout her life, including as a dental assistant in Rocky Mount, Scott Vending Company, and then the Town of Forest City, where she served in customer service collecting payments for utility bills. No matter what the job, she brought kindness, diligence, and a servant’s spirit.

She was known for her love of cooking and feeding others—her food was a delicious expression of care that drew people together. She delighted in puzzles, painting, and reading, cherished time with family, and found joy in traveling and being with people.

Above all, Beverly was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, a nurturing mother, and a proud grandmother whose life revolved around those she loved most.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Brad Joyner (Tracy) of Forest City; her daughter, Greta Jones of Charlotte; her grandchildren, Brady Joyner (Alex), Berkley Joyner, Judson Jones, Joyner Jones, and Ian Ruppe; her great-grandchildren, Levi and Jackson Joyner. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Dawn Joyner Ruppe.

Beverly’s life reflected a quiet faithfulness—lived in ordinary moments, generous acts, and enduring love. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, hospitality, and devotion that will continue to shape her family and community for generations.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock on Wednesday at Concord Baptist Church with the Reverend Travis Laflin officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will not have a formal visitation but rather a gathering in the Fellowship Hall following the graveside service.

Memorials may  be made to Concord Baptist Church, Post Office Box 70, Bostic, North Carolina 28018.

The Padgett and King Mortuary & Crematory is in charge of arrangements and an online guest registry is available at www.padgettking.com
