Betty DeBusk Turner, age 72 of Ellenboro died on Christmas Day, December 25, 2022, at her home. Betty was born on April 9, 1950, in Kingsport, Tennessee and was a daughter of the late Ralph Edward and Edith McCroskey DeBusk.
Betty was a graduate of Emory & Henry College, and she received her master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. She taught Physics and Science first in Virginia for two years and then she came to East Rutherford High School in 1974 where she taught until her retirement with thirty years in education. Betty was a faithful member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church where she had served on various committees, taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Donald Turner of the home, her sons, Stuart Yeatts of Youngsville, NC and Scott Yeatts of Wendell, NC, her brother, David DeBusk of Johnson City, TN, and her sister, Dr. Janet Allen of Oakridge, TN. There are also two grandchildren, Reagan Yeatts and Liam Yeatts.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced.
