Betty Dobbins Holtzclaw, age 86 of Ellenboro died Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Hospice House in Forest City. Betty was born on December 17, 1934 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Fletcher Lee Dobbins and Lanner Hawkins Dobbins. She was a graduate of Tri-High School and a member of Crestview Baptist Church. Betty was a seamstress for Tanner Companies for many years until her retirement.
She was the last of twelve children and was preceded in death by her siblings, Laura E. Tessnear, Ernest Dobbins, Jessie Lee Davis, Jack Dobbins, Margaret Earley, Anner Mae Morrow, John Dobbins, and Christine Wilkerson.
Betty was the wife of Henry Holtzclaw for 55 years until his death in 2012.
Survivors include her son, Chad Holtzclaw of Ellenboro, her daughters, Marsha H. Jolley and husband Tommy of Forest City, Beverly H. McGinnis and husband Danny of Ellenboro as well as her grandchildren, Kristin M. Pearson, Craig McGinnis, Betsy J. King, Allison H. Dorsey, and Caroline J. King, as well as seven great-grandchildren, Deacon and Elin Pearson, Daisy King, Olivia Kate King, Cullen King, Charlotte Dorsey and Carter King.
A service from the graveside will be held at 2 o’clock on Monday, March 22, 2021 at Eternal Hills Memorial Park with Reverend Kevin Rohm officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery where mask and social distancing will be observed.
Betty will lie in state from 2 until 4 o’clock on Sunday afternoon at The Padgett and King Mortuary for those that wish to pay their respects and sign the guest registry.
