Betty Champion Greene

Betty Champion Greene, age 82 of Charlotte, North Carolina died Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.  Betty was born in Charlotte on April 4, 1941, and was the daughter of the late Willie and S.E. Greene Champion. 

Growing up in Rutherford County, she was a member of Concord Baptist Church where she was baptized.  She was a 1959 graduate of Cool Springs High School in Forest City and Kings College. Betty always enjoyed helping organize her high school reunions. 

Betty spent most of her life in Charlotte where she worked in payroll administration for the City of Charlotte.  After many years of service to the city, she retired.  Following retirement, she went to work as a Payroll Clerk for Bradshaw-Hayes Flooring Contractors.  She was a faithful member of Newell Baptist Church where she was active in the church.  Betty loved spending time at the beach camping with her late husband Bobby and her family. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Eugene Greene in 2006.

Survivors include her son, David E. Greene and wife Laurie of Concord, her grandchildren, Sarah, Brandon, Jordon, and Savannah, as well as her great-grandchildren, Natalie, Ryder, Riley, Hunter, Annabel, and Aria.  Betty was raised in a large and loving family and is also survived by her cousins that she loved so much.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock on Monday, November 20, 2023, in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend Donald Newell officiating.  Interment will follow at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 prior to the service.
