Bennie Toney Obituary

Bennie Clarence Toney, age 75 of the Sunshine Community, died Friday, October 15, 2021, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. Bennie was born on September 17, 1946, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Clarence Lawson Toney and Cumi Mull Toney. He retired from the Maintenance Department at Stonecutter Mills.

Bennie was a member of Golden Valley Missionary Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, crow hunting, and he was skilled in making crow calls and wood working. His interest also included small engine repair and bee keeping.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Shirley Toney, sisters, Carolyn Scruggs and Catherine Melton, and brothers, Wade Toney, Robert Toney, and Dennis Toney.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Ann Dotson Toney, his daughters, Theresa Toney Butler and husband Greg, Tammie Toney Culler, and husband Tim all of Sunshine, his sister, Vivian Toney Champion of Sunshine and his grandchildren, Austin Hammond, Colton Hammond, Wesley Hammond, Breanna Hammond, Scott Culler, and Savannah Culler. There are also two great-grandchildren, Alaina Hammond, and Harper Hammond.  


The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Golden Valley Missionary Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Mt. Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 Tuesday evening at Padgett and King Mortuary.
