Benjamin H. “Ben” Bridges, age 64 of Forest City died Monday, June 27, 2022. Ben was born on March 22, 1958, and was a son of the late Reid and Elizabeth Waldrop Bridges. Growing up in Rutherfordton, his family attended Rutherfordton Presbyterian Church and he was a graduate of Rutherfordton-Spindale High School in the Class of 1976. He also attended Appalachian State University.
Ben worked as a Pharmacy Technician for Smith’s Drug Store in Rutherfordton where his father had been the pharmacist for many years. He later worked for the Medicine Box Pharmacy in Forest City as both Pharmacy Technician and Store Manager.
Ben was a Godly man who read and studied the Bible. He was a member of Florence Baptist Church and the Virgil Webb/Men’s Care Class. He truly enjoyed his Sunday School class and attended regularly until his health prevented him from doing so.
Ben was a man of simple taste and he enjoyed black and white television, especially Andy Griffith and old westerns. Living and working on the farm that was first his grandfathers was one of his greatest joys.
Ben was a quiet, humble, and kind person and he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Linda Hicks Bridges, his son, Patrick Bridges and wife Sarah of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, his daughter, Kathryn Bridges of Forest City, his brother, Alan Reid Bridges of Forest City and his grandchildren, Blythe Bridges and Hudson Bridges, and his beloved dog, Albert that has been such an important part of his life.
THE MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR BEN WILL BE HELD AT 4 O'CLOCK ON THURSDAY, JULY 7, 2022 IN THE PADGETT AND KING CHAPEL WITH A VISITATION FROM 3 UNTIL 4 O'CLOCK PRIOR TO THE SERVICE AT THE MORTUARY.
