Barbara Epley Dobbins, age 90 of Forest City died Monday, April 25, 2022, at her home. Barbara was born on January 21, 1932, in Polk County and was a daughter of the late Lum and Mae Lyles Epley. She was a lifelong member of Green River Baptist Church where she was the oldest living member of the church. Barbara was a faithful Christian and a loving and devoted Mother and grandmother.
Barbara grew up in Green Creek and was a graduate of Green Creek High School and faithfully attended their class reunions. She worked in textiles for 42 years starting at Drayton Mills in Spartanburg and then with Spindale Mills where she retired. Following retirement, she continued working, first for K-Mart until the store closing and finally at Rose’s in the Tri-City Mall.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Dobbins in 1995, an infant son, Terry Steward Dobbins in 1956, as well as her sisters.
Survivors include her children, Jeffrey Dobbins, Sherry Dobbins and Crystal Dobbins as well as four granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.
A service from the graveside will be held at 3 o’clock on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Green River Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Gary Curtis officiating. There will be a visitation from 5 until 7 o’clock on Thursday evening at The Padgett and King Mortuary.
