Arthur Doggett Obituary

Arthur "Red" Simpson Doggett, age 85 of Forest City died Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Fairhaven of Forest City.  Arthur was born January 29, 1933 in Rutherford County and was a  son of the late Grover and Eula Howard Doggett. 

He was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church and his Sunday School class which he enjoyed attending.  "Red" loved cars and race car driving which he did for many years in number 97 at Harris, Spindale, and Shelby race tracks.  He was also a talented and gifted wood worker and enjoyed building with his hands.  In his working career, he worked for Burlington Industries as the Machine Shop Foreman where he retired with over 44 years service.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca H. Doggett, sons, Mark Doggett and wife Lynn of Greenville, NC, Jeff Doggett of Black Mountain, Max Doggett and wife Ann , and Kurt Doggett and wife Vicky all of Forest City, daughters, Cathy Humphries and husband Ricky of Gaffney, Barbie Kirby and husband Roy of Irmo, SC, a brother, Billy Cole and wife Janice of Forest City and sister, Marion Hopper and husband Lannie of Charlotte.  There are also 16 grandchildren and 12 Great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Saturday in the Bethany Baptist Church with Reverend Chris Fox and Reverend Marvin Greene officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2 until 3 pm prior to the service.
