Alton Searcy

Leslie Alton “Pap” Searcy, age 90 of Forest City died Monday, July 31, 2023, at Oakland Living Center.  Al was born on June 10, 1933, in Rutherford County and was the son of the late Grace Searcy.  He was a member of Florence Baptist Church and Forest City Masonic Lodge No. 381, AF&AM.  Al was also a United States Army veteran. 

His greatest passion was his old cars and he enjoyed restoring and repairing them.  For many years he was the owner and operator of Al’s Auto Glass and Used Cars in Forest City. 

He was preceded in death by his son, Malcom Searcy, and his wife of more than 70 years, Patsy Butler Searcy who died in 2020. 

Survivors include his sons, Mike Searcy and wife Kay of Forest City, Danny Searcy and wife Crystal of Woodland Park, Colorado, and the Reverend Dr. Nelson Searcy and wife Kelly of Boco Raton, Florida as well as three grandchildren, Lauren, Nick, and Alex and one great-grandchild, Cade. 

The funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock Friday, August 4, 2023, in The Padgett and King Chapel with his son, the Reverend Dr. Nelson Searcy officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service at the mortuary.  Interment will be private for the family at Cool Springs Cemetery.
