Alan Metcalf

Alan Dale Metcalf, age 61 of Forest City died Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City.  Alan was born in Rutherford County on March 6, 1962 and he was a son of the late Roy and Irene Greene Metcalf. 

Alan was a graduate of Chase High School and he earned a degree in Business Administration from Gardner-Webb College.  He worked as a buyer for most of his career and more recently was a Project Manager for Westrock.  Alan was a quiet man and enjoyed the simple pleasures in life.  He was an avid UNC Tarheel fan as well as supporting the Colts. Alan loved IMSA Racing, golfing and long walks with his brother, Larry.

Survivors include his wife, Marica Stacey Metcalf of the home, his daughters, Megan Metcalf Draghi and husband Michael of Los Angeles, CA, Taylor Metcalf Whiteside and husband Clint of Forest City, his brother, Larry Metcalf and wife Mary of Forest City and his sister, Cynthia Metcalf Walkup and husband Ronnie of Calabash, NC.  He is also survived by his grandson, Walker Whiteside, the light of his life. 

The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock on Monday, April 3, 2023, in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend Daniel Selman officiating.  Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o’clock Monday at the mortuary.
