Ada Ruth Banfield, age 97 of Forest City, North Carolina died Monday, March 27, 2023, at the Rutherford Regional Medical Center.

Born September 12, 1925, in Willoughby, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Amos Green and Ida Bortz Green. Most of her life she was a member of the Little Church in the Vale in Gates Mills, Ohio and following a permanent move in 2016 to Rutherford County she attended  Second Baptist Church in Rutherfordton. Ada was always one to be active in her church having served as a Sunday School Teacher, served on short term Mission Projects, and 19 International Mission Trips together with her husband after the age of 70.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings, George Green, Mildred Green and Donald Green.

Surviving are her husband of almost 74 years, William J. “Bill” Banfield of the home; three sons, William Paul Banfield and wife, Denise of Ohio, David Banfield and wife Suanne of Michigan and Thomas Banfield and wife, Kathryn of Forest City; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will he held Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 3 o’clock at the Second Baptist Church of Rutherfordton with the Reverend Dr. Keith Stephenson and the Reverend Dr. David Banfield officiating. The family will greet friends Saturday afternoon from 1:30 until 2:45 at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to the Children’s and Youth Programs of Second Baptist Church, 191 Green Street Rutherfordton, North Carolina 28139.
