Thomas Edward ("Tommy") Carroll

Thomas Edward "Tommy" Carroll, age 86 of Forest City died Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Henderson Care Center.  Tommy was born May 12, 1932 in Rutherford County and was the son of late Lionel Clyde Carroll and Nell Lewis Carroll.  He was a field representative for Equifax where he retired. 

Tommy was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Forest City where he served as a Deacon and on various committees in the church.  He also served in the North Carolina Army National Guard and was discharged at the rank of Captain.  Tommy was a founding member of Carolina Regional Plymouth Club and served as President of the club.   

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lionel and sisters Patricia and Hazel. 

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Martha Tate Carroll, two sons, Greg Carroll and wife Elaine of Stanley, NC, Richard Carroll and husband Jorge Varela of New York City, two grandchildren, Morgan Carroll Homesley and husband Cody of Charlotte, Tate Carroll and wife Jillian of Huntersville; two great-grandchildren, Wesley Carroll and Hayley Homesley.

The funeral service will be held at three o'clock Tuesday in the First Baptist Church with Reverend J. Anthony Spencer officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 prior to the service in the Family Fellowship Hall.  Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard and the NC Army National Guard.
