Ronald William "Ron" Hobson, age 78, of Forest City, died, Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Panama City, Panama, he was the son of the late William Hobson and Lillian Doar Hobson; a veteran, having served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, and retired from the US Post Office in Forest City. He was preceded in death by a sister, Yvonne Chamosis, and a niece, Stephanie Brouse.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Barbara Dolan Hobson of the home, a son, Butch Hobson and wife Kim of Shiloh, daughter, Michelle Warren and husband David of Candler, NC, a sister, Dana Gantt of Oxford, NC, thirteen grandchildren, Daniel Franklin of Harris, NC, Ashely Mignone and husband Adam of Shiloh, Chris Poteat of Rutherfordton, Erin Jessup and Husband Kyle of Spindale, Elizabeth Hobson of Forest City, Jocelyn Jones of Forest City, Sydney Franklin of Arden, NC, Annie Buchanan of Statesville, Lacey Buchanan of Candler, NC, Chad Warren and husband Ronnie Fenn of Candler, NC, Bryan Warren of Black Mountain, NC, Max Libera of Shiloh, Erik Libera of Shiloh, great-grandchildren, Aria, Aubrey, Christian, Corbin, Gaige, Gavin, Layla, Lukas, Oliver, Peyton, Phoenix, and Wynter, thirteen nieces and nephews, Candice Scruggs, John Llado, Keith “Scooter” Cash, Frank Rolph, Drew O’Kane, Honor O’Kane, Jeff Goode, Lisa Hutchins, Claire Harding, Denise Mandeville, Shannon Robb, Twyla Wangelin, and Beth Wangelin.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Monday, March 26, 2018, in The Padgett & King Chapel with the Reverend Neil Perry and Reverend Billy Salyers officiating. Interment will follow in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1 until 2 pm prior to the service. Veteran’s Honors will be accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
