Roland Edgar Conrad, Jr., age 76 of Ellenboro died Friday, February 2, 2018 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  Roland was born February 5, 1941 in Gastonia, North Carolina and was a son of the late Roland Edgar Conrad, Sr., and Bertie Lee Sosebee Conrad.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Forest City and spent 25 years working for Public Service of North Carolina.  When he retired from Public Service, he started a Transport Delivery Service which he operated until his retirement.  Roland proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  He never met a stranger and loved children and his pets.  He and his wife traveled with the church youth on mission trips as both chaperones and mentors. 

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Claudia Hill Conrad, a son, Roland E. (Trei) Conrad, III of Ellenboro, a daughter, Chandra Renee Conrad McGinnis of Ellenboro, a brother, Michael Glen Conrad and wife Becky of Gastonia, grandchildren, Lauren Conrad Moore and husband Ben and their daughter, McKenzie, Kaleb Lee Mason and KyLee Grace Mason as well as Drake Thomas Loaces and Blaise Alexander Loaces whom he loved as his own grandchildren and special neighborhood boy, Colt Huntley.

A memorial service will be held at four o'clock Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Forest City with Reverend Dr. Garin Hill and Reverend Tony Spencer officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Fellowship Hall of the church.
