Robert Gammon Obituary

Robert Gordon Gammon, age 68 of Forest City died Saturday, December 28, 2019 at his residence following a sudden illness.  Robert was born in Swain County, North Carolina on October 16, 1951 to his parents, Pauline Deal Gammon and the late Robert Wilson Gammon. 

Robert was a member of the First Baptist Church of Forest City and a graduate of East Rutherford High School where he was listed in Merrick's Who's - Who of American High School Students.   He served a four year enlistment in the United States Navy and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for a period of time before enrolling at North Carolina State University where he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering.

Robert worked for Texas Instruments for many years and was a talented engineer.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carl W. Gammon.

Survivors include his mother, Pauline Deal "Polly" Gammon,  his wife, Karen of Rutherfordton, step-son, Scott Bailey,  his brother, John W. Gammon and wife Haley of Forest City as well as nieces and nephews, Ben & Emily Gammon, Lauren, Maeven, and Erin Gammon.

A memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday, January 1, 2020 in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Karen Gray officiating.  The family will receive friends following  the service in the chapel.  Interment will be private for the immediate family in the Cool Springs Cemetery.
