Robert Edward “Bob” Baker, 79, of Woodburn Drive, Forest City, died Friday, March 30, 2018. He was a native of Matthews, NC, the son of the late Donald Baker and Maxine Orndoff Baker, and widower of Jerri Ann Harris Baker. Bob was raised from the age of five years old by his foster parents, William Floyd Moore and Katherine Freeman Moore. He was a US Army veteran and also a member of the Army National Guard. He served as a volunteer for the Neighbors Food Pantry in Gilkey and was a graduate of North Mecklenburg High School, class of 1957. Bob was also preceded in death by a step-son, Randy Hoyle; and foster siblings, Ashlyn Moore Tucker, Floyd Moore and Ellen Tye Moore Hackney.
Survivors include his step-son, Max Hoyle of Charlotte, NC; step-granddaughter, Katrina Hoyle; foster siblings, Sue Moore of North Augusta, SC and Tommy Moore and wife, Ann of Matthews, NC, sisters-in-law, Nancy Jones and husband Jerry, Diane Watkins, and Faye McKeown and husband Danny, and brother-in-law, Scott Harris and wife Debbie, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 11 am Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park with Rev. Buddy Campbell officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
