James Ricky Thompson, age 58 of Bostic died Monday, November 26, 2018 at his residence following a brief illness. Ricky was born February 17, 1960 in Rutherford County and is a son of Laura Ann Steadman Thompson of Rutherfordton and the late James Albert Thompson. He was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and was ordained a deacon at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church.
He was a graduate of Chase High School and worked for Sara Lee Bakery for eighteen years before becoming the owner of Big Al's Restaurant in Shiloh carrying on a legacy started by his father. Ricky also had a love for farming, horses and raising cattle.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Cindy Toney Thompson of the home, a son, Zachary Thompson and fiancée, Kaytlin Hutchins of Bostic, brother, Timothy Thompson and wife Myra of Bostic, sister, Elaine Hollifield and husband Alan of Ellenboro, and mother-in-law, Nancy Condrey Toney of Bostic.
The funeral service will be held at three o'clock Thursday in the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church with Reverend Paul White officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be in the Sanctuary from 1:30 until 2:45 prior to the service at the church.
