Ramona Carlton Obituary

Ramona Smith Carlton, 84, of Forest City, died Friday, April 12, 2019 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.  A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late O.M. Smith and Margaret Lois Moss Smith.  Ramona was a substance abuse counselor having worked for Green Street Center and later retired from Rutherford County Mental Health.  She was a graduate of R S Central High School and a member of Florence Baptist Church, Forest City.

Survivors include her son, Allen Carlton III of Forest City, NC; daughters, Alicia Henderson (David) of Hendersonville, NC, Karen C. Park (Greg) of Forest City, NC, and Teri C. Whisnant of Forest City, NC; a brother, David Smith of Sumter, SC; a sister, Deanna McJunkins of Texarkana, Arkansas; grandchildren, Miranda Morales (Chris), Lucas Campbell (Kelly), Alexandra Park Dow (Joshua), Cullen Park (Devin), Marty Silvers, Gayla Silvers, Chelsea Rush, Amber Henderson, Michael Henderson (Kristina), and Avery Carlton; great grandchildren, Daniel, Liliana, Nate, Carter, Colt, Campbell, Lanie, Adelee, Jaiden, Devin, Azlyn, Makalyn, Memphis, Eden, and Henry.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Cindy Carlton, son-in-law, Kim Whisnant and brothers, Mike and Mayrock Smith.

A memorial service will be held 3 pm Thursday, April 18, 2019, in the Padgett & King Chapel with Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 pm Thursday at Padgett & King.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans, VA Reg Office- Federal Bldg, 251 N.Main St, Room 151, Winston-Salem, NC 27101-3914.
