Phyllis Cantrell Obituary

Phyllis Epley Cantrell, age 65 of Forest City died Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Hospice of The Carolina Foothills in Forest City.  Phyllis was born July 26, 1953 in McDowell County, North Carolina and is the daughter of Mary Stott Epley of Forest City and the late George Kermit Epley.  She was a 1971 graduate of East Rutherford High School and a longtime active member of Crestview Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School and was involved in various church activities. 

Phyllis worked for sixteen years in the Outpatient Department at Rutherford Regional Medical Center where she retired. 

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Billy W. Cantrell of the home, her son, Eric Steven Edwards of Forest City, her daughter, Stephanie Motley of Forest City, and her brother, Jerry Epley and wife Susie of Bostic.  There are also three grandchildren, Kristin Motley, A.J. Motley, and T. J. Motley as well as a great-grandchild, J. J. Motley.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday, February 26, 2019 in the Crestview Baptist Church with Reverend Kevin Rohm and Reverend George Whitmire officiating.  Interment will follow at Montford Cove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o'clock prior to the service in the church Sanctuary.
