Phillip Carver Obituary

Phillip Dewey Carver, age 79 of Rutherfordton, died Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Hospice House in Forest City.  Phillip was born on May 17, 1940 in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Melvin Alonzo Carver and Elsie Sansing Carver. 

Phillip was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rutherfordton and a Master Mason and member of Perry Masonic Lodge No. 458 F&AM in Marysville, Pennsylvania.  He was also a United States Army veteran and had worked for the United States Government at the Naval Depot in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.  He was also a block mason by trade.

His wife of fifty-one years, Donna Mae Brink Carver preceded him in death in 2018.

Survivors include his son, Phillip D. Carver and wife Christine of Sylva, North Carolina, his daughter, Jennifer Carver of Spindale, and two grandsons, Alex and Nick Carver-Robbins also of Spindale.

A memorial service will be held at twelve noon, Saturday, July 27, 2019 in the First United Methodist Church of Rutherfordton with Reverend Dr. In-Yong Lee officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.


The family wishes to thank Hospice House and their staff for the excellent care during his illness.
