Maxie Ray Smith, age 77 of Anderson, South Carolina died Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson. Maxie was born November 19, 1940 in the Sulphur Springs section of Rutherford County, North Carolina and was a son of the late Jay Elmer and Annie Ruth Sherrill Smith. He was self-employed in the electronics field, a business owner, and served honorably in the United States Navy.

Survivors include sons, Steven Mark Smith of Boone, NC, Todd Adam Smith of Concord, CA, daughters, Joanna Lynn Smith of San Bruno, CA, Nastassia Timberly Smith of Carrollton, Texas. There are 7 grandchildren, Christian Michael-Ray Smith, Southern Stephen Jones, Scarlett Olivia Brooks, Serena Tapia, Courtney Katrina Golts, Kayla Ann Golts, and Cameron Jon Smith and 1 Great-grandchild, Hunter Manuel Tapia.

Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Saturday, April 14, 2018 in the Bethany Baptist Church with Reverend Chris Fox officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be in the church sanctuary from noon until the hour of service.
