Mary “Sue” Mathis Wall, 82, passed away on Saturday, April 14, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Columbus, NC. She was a member of Florence Baptist Church in Forest City. Sue was born on a snowy day, February 7, 1936 to Henry Mathis and Myrtle Hopper Mathis. Her daddy had to ride a mule to fetch the doctor in the snow. The snow got so deep the doctor had to spend several days with them.
Sue loved music and cleaning house. She was often seen with a duster or sweeper in hand. She also had quite a sense of humor.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, J.B. Wall. Her body was not able to recover from sickness and a broken heart from losing her spouse-so the Lord healed her by taking her home.
She is survived by her only sister, Janet M. Bostic Kesterson. Surviving children include Tina W. Gowan (Steve), Michael Wall (Carolyn), Tammy W. Digh (Mickey), and Melinda W. Bailey (Philip), 7 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren
Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Florence Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating. Interment will follow in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church from 2 until 3 o'clock prior to the service.
The Padgett and King Mortuary & Crematory is in charge and an online guest registry is available at www.padgettking.com
