Mary Lou Jones, age 88 of South Powell Street, Forest City died Sunday, May 19, 2019 at her residence. She was born April 19, 1931 in Rutherford County and was the daughter of the late John W. Burgess and Emogene Morrow Mask and step-daughter of the late Woodrow Mask.
Mary Lou attended Tri-High School and was a faithful member of Harmon Street Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and retired from General Fireproofing. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents and step-father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Jones in 2014.
Survivors include her son, Michael Wilson and wife Melita Wilson of Rutherfordton, her daughters, Felicia Beaver and husband Travis of Forest City, and Towanna White of Forest City, grandchildren, Traisha Campfield and husband Dustin, Taryn Deyton and husband Stephen, Brooke Earley and husband Josh, Kaylee Wilson, Tyler Newton and wife Amy. There are also five great-grandchildren, Morgan, Kinsley, Isaac, Kaidence, Angela, and Holden.
The funeral service will be held at 6 o'clock Tuesday evening in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Randy Church and Reverend Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating. Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 5:45 pm prior to the service at the mortuary.
