Martha Alley Obituary

Martha Jewel Hyder Norville Alley, age 88 of Forest City died Friday, November 16, 2018 at Hospice House in Forest City.  Jewel was born February 20, 1930 in Rutherford County and was the daughter of the late Decatur Belmont Hyder and Nell Robertson Hyder.  She was a cloth inspector and retired from Cone Mills at the Avondale Plant. 

Jewel was a graduate of Tri-High School and a faithful member of Crestview Baptist Church.  Jewel was a volunteer for Hospice Of Rutherford County for many years and served as the pianist at Sandy Level Baptist Church for many years.  Her first husband, James Gilmer Norville preceded her in death in 1988.

Survivors include her husband of twenty-two years, O. W. Alley, Jr. , a son, Keith Norville and wife Wavolyn of Forest City, step sons, Earl Dean Alley and wife Shirley, Donald Ray Alley and wife Karen all of Forest City, a step-sister, Lucille Nanney and husband Pat of Forest City, grandchildren Audrey Byers and husband Jason of Ft. Benning, GA, Jay Norville and wife Melissa of Forest City, three step-grandchildren, Debbie Radford and husband Keith of Mooresville, Jody Alley and wife Melissa of Forest City, and Mikie Weismiller, five great-grandchildren, Abram, Gabrielle, Solomon, and Lincoln Byers, and Zeb Norville,two step-grandchildren, Marina Radford and Jessica Alley.

The funeral service will be held at 6:30 Monday evening at Crestview Baptist Church with Reverend Kevin Rohm, Reverend Robbie Hensley and Chaplain (CPT), Jason Byers, US Army officiating.  Interment will be held privately on Tuesday at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church on Monday evening.
