Lee Smith Obituary

Lee Ervin Smith, age 70, of Ellenboro, died, Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Charlotte's Medical Center. A native of Burke County, he was the son of the late Franklin Boyd Smith and Ruth Smith. Lee retired from AGI as a machine operator, enjoyed farming and gardening, was a former Cub Scout leader, and was a member at Corinth Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday school teacher and coached in church league softball.

 He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Bowen Smith in 2005, a brother, Earl Smith and his wife, Verlie, and brother-in-law, Carmie Stroupe.

Survivors include his longtime companion, Leisa Barner of Ellenboro, two sons, Daniel Smith and his wife Cassandra of Bostic, Devin Smith and his wife Melinda of Ellenboro, three grandchildren, Jerry Smith and his wife Kristin, Landon Smith, Kasey Smith, and 1 great granddaughter, Isabella Smith, his brothers, Tom Smith and wife LaVonne of Morganton, Donald Smith and wife Annice, Billy Smith and wife Lynn, John Smith and wife Judy, and Walter Smith and wife JoAnne all of Connelly Springs, NC, sisters, Faye Greene of Connelly Springs, Linda Foster and husband Robert of Morganton, Barbara Townsend of Claremont, and Carol Stroupe of Morganton.

Funeral services will be held at 4 PM, Friday, October 12, 2018, at Corinth Baptist Church with Reverend Ad Hopper and Reverend Mike Conner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:30 until 3:45 prior to the service at the church.  The family is at the home of a son, Devin Smith in Ellenboro.
