Johnny Green Obituary

Johnny Wayne Green of Woodchip Lane, Forest City went home shouting Sept 15, 2019 at his home after a long courageous battle with renal cancer.  Johnny was preceded in death by his parents Spurgeon Green and Inez Reid Green as well as brother Douglas Green.

Johnny was retired from Tri-City Concrete. He was a dedicated member of Grace Chapel, where he served as a board member for many years and a head usher for more.  Johnny was a former Jaycee and coached many youth teams throughout his life. He loved his wife and boys. He had a special love for his 4 little girls and he had a faithfulness and love for his Savior Jesus Christ and his church.

Johnny is survived by this wife of thirty-seven years,  Cathy,  of the home; Sons, Josh Green and Michael Green both of Forest City, and Stephen Green of Roanoke, VA; two special nieces, Holly Scoggins(Justin) of Winterhaven, FL and Jennifer Estes(Dewayne) of Gaffney, SC; his four grandchildren Lylah and Natalie Green of Forest City and Ryleigh Harris and Chloe Estes, both of Gaffney; Brothers, Howard Green (Pat) of Mooresboro, NC and Gene Green of Forest City;  sisters,  Carolyn Dysart(Tom) of Mooresboro, NC and Linda Hiott of Forest City, a special brother  Steve Matheny(Phyliss) of Ellenboro NC. He is also survived by two grand nephews, Darian Gilbert and Evan Metcalf of Forest City and several other nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to Dr. Matt Rees and his wonderful staff without which  Johnny would not have had 4 more years with his family.

His celebration of life service will be held  4 pm Wednesday, September 18, at Grace Chapel, 121 Mitchell Street,  Forest City  with Rev.  Ricky Poteat,  Rev.  Frank Lewis and Rev.  Jackie Potter officiating.  Interment will follow in the Morrow Cemetery.  The family will receive friends  from 6-8 pm Tuesday at Grace Chapel.   In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Grace Chapel Youth Group at 178 Cornwell St., Forest City, NC 28043
