John Benjamin "J.B." Wall, age 87 of Forest City passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at his residence. He was a member of Florence Baptist Church in Forest City. J.B. was born November 21, 1930. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Wall; his mother, Rose Lee Wall; a brother Bill Wall; and a sister Louise Wall Greene. He also served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
J. B. was a lifelong democrat, gardener, and fisherman. He worked as a carpenter, loom fixer, and hardwood floor finisher and was the last elected Mayor of Alexander Mills.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sue Mathis Wall, three daughters, Tina Wall Gowan (Steve), Tammy Wall Digh (Mickey), Melinda Wall Bailey (Philip), and a son, Michael Wall (Carolyn). There are 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. J. B. was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
A celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 PM Friday in the Florence Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Bobby Gantt and Mr. Philip Bailey officiating. Visitation will be in the Narthex of the church from 2 until 3 PM prior to the service. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park with military honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
