John Bedford Monday, Sr.

John Bedford Monday, Sr., 89, of Shamrock Drive, Ellenboro, died Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Cleveland Pines in Shelby.  A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Raymond and Pearl Monday; an entrepreneur, and attended Campfield Memorial Baptist Church, Ellenboro.  John also enjoyed camping and loved people.

Survivors include his wife, Rachel Walker Monday of the home, his son, John B. Monday, Jr. of Punta Gorda, FL; daughters, Donna Watson of Chesapeake, VA, Regina Phillips and companion, Kathleen Grogan of South Bend, Washington, and Gloria Jackson and husband Donald of Rutherfordton, NC; his brother-in-law, Linnie Walker and wife Brenda of Mooresboro, NC, and sister-in-law, Theresa Walker of Rutherfordton, NC.  He is also survived by a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his beloved dog Buddy.

Funeral services will be held eleven o'clock Wednesday, December 26, 2018 in the Padgett & King Chapel.  Entombment will follow in the mausoleum of Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from ten until eleven o'clock Wednesday at Padgett & King.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Dr, Shelby, NC 28150 or PAWS of Rutherford County, P.O.
