Mrs. Jimmie Lovelace Padgett, age 95 of Forest City died Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Jimmie was born July 24, 1924 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Surness and Mae Long Lovelace. She was a member of Adaville Baptist Church and a seamstress. She had a talent for sewing and alterations and she began working for a dry cleaning business in Rutherfordton. Jimmie then went on to work for Dalton's Department Store in Rutherfordton where she worked for many years. She later worked for Dalton's of Forest City, Davis Sisters Dress Shop and finally for Graham Cash Company.
She was preceded in death by her husband, D. G. Padgett in 1986, her brothers, J. C. Lovelace, Odell Lovelace, Bobby Lovelace, her sisters, Irene Owens and Mozelle Martin as well as a great-grandchild, Brittany Marie Hollifield.
Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Padgett Hollifield of Forest City, Anita Padgett Martin and husband Robert of Rutherfordton, five grandchildren, Amy White, David Hollifield, Ginger Hollifield, Steven Martin and Jennifer Silvers. There are also eleven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday, July 28, 2019 in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Creighton Lovelace officiating. Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six until eight o'clock Saturday evening at The Padgett and King Mortuary.
