Grover Richard Conard

Grover Richard Conard, Sr., age 74, of Shelby, NC, died, Saturday,  June 16, 2018, at his residence. A native of Haywood County, NC, he was a son of the late Elbert Tine Conard and Sara Williamson Conard; a veteran, having served in the US Army during the Vietnam war, a former member of both Hopewell Ruritan Club and American Legion Post #423.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Willie Beatrice Newton Conard of the home, son, Grover Richard "Rick" Conard, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Vale, NC, daughter, Gayle Conard Alston and her husband Michael of Concord, NC, brother, Edwin Herman Conard and his wife Nora of Etowah, NC, sister, Ellen Cynthia Hoots and her husband Vick of Edneyville, NC, grandchildren, D.J. Conard, Arleigh Conard, Autumn Conard, Victoria Conard, Kevin Alston, Ryan Alston, Robert Alston, and Alyssa Alston.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM, Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at The Padgett & King Chapel with the Reverend Eddie Conard officiating. Interment will follow in the Cleveland Memorial Park, Shelby, NC. Visitation will be from 10 until 11:15 AM in the main building prior to the service. Military honors to be accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
