Frances McKinney Hawk, age 66 of Forest City died Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Fairhaven of Forest City. Frances was born February 7, 1952 in Cleveland County, North Carolina and was a daughter of the late John and Aileen Crowder McKinney.
Frances was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Forest City and a graduate of East Rutherford High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following her graduation, Frances attended Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem where she earned the distinction of becoming one of the first Ultra Sound Technicians.
Her hobbies included the love of working complex puzzles and counted cross stitch.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Byrd, III.
Survivors include her son, Tim Hawk of Hendersonville, a sister, Mary Elizabeth McKinney Taylor of Forest City, and her nephews, Casey McMahon of Rutherfordton and Patrick McMahon of Barcelona, Spain.

The memorial service will be held at 5:30 on Thursday, November 1, 2018 in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Faye Herbin officiating.
