Finley Y. Blanton, age 80 of Ellenboro, North Carolina died Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Hospice House in Forest City. He was born October 8, 1937 in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Carl G. and Docia Patterson Blanton. Finley was a graduate of Ellenboro High School and a member of Campfield Memorial Baptist Church. He worked for the Mental Health Department in both Tennessee and Morganton, North Carolina for many years. Finley served in the Army National Guard, was a former member of the Woodmen of The World, loved to garden and taught himself how to crochet in later years.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah, five brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Hudgins Blanton, a son, Jerry Blanton of Tennessee, brothers, Bobby Blanton and Sam Blanton both of Ellenboro, a sister, Janie Harris of Ellenboro. There are four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Monday at Campfield Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Scott Huffman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 3 o'clock in the church sanctuary prior to the service.
