Fern H. Huntsinger

Joyce Fern Head Huntsinger, age 82, of Forest City, died May 23, 2018, at the Hospice House of Forest City. A native of Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late George Head and Myrtle Blankinship Head, and retired from Marion Manufacturing where she worked for  40 years. After retirement she and Clayton enjoyed travel and camping all over the southeast, was an avid Tarheel and Atlanta Braves fan, and followed the Bluegrass Circuit attending singings. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Clayton Huntsinger in 2015, and a sister, Lillian Hudson, and brothers, Junior Head, Robert Head, and Max Head.

Survivors include her brothers Reid Head and Donald Head, both of Rutherfordton, sisters, Pat Gettys of Forest City, Shirley Holland of Rutherfordton, Helen Taylor of Forest City; a number of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday in The Padgett & King Chapel with the Reverend Mike Snelgrove officiating. Interment will follow in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 until 2pm, prior to the service at the mortuary.
