Eugene Morrow Obituary

William Eugene "Bookie" Morrow, age 80 of Forest City died Thursday, January 24, 2019.  Bookie was born May 13, 1938 in Forest City and was a son of the late Michael H. Morrow , Sr and Bettie proctor Morrow.  He was a self-employed brick mason and many homes and business in Rutherford and surrounding counties are a product of his expert craftsmanship. 

Bookie was a member of Crestview Baptist Church and he was an avid and experienced golfer.  A member of Forest City Golf Club where he played daily for his entire life.  He held the distinction of having 14 hole in one shots, numerous double eagles, was District Champion in Forest City and Shelby and was County Champion.  His list of very close and devoted golf buddies was extensive. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Bub Morrow, Michael Morrow, Charles Morrow and sister, Vivian Hamrick.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Harris Morrow, son Michael Murray Morrow and partner Bill Benton of Atlanta, daughter, Allison Morrow Summey and husband Keith of Raleigh, granddaughter, Margaret Hope Mills of Raleigh, and step-grandchildren, Kristen Summey and Brian Summey and his wife Jessica; two brothers, Romeo Morrow of Little Rock , AR, Don Morrow of Forest City, sister, Jackie Hutchins of Forest City.  There are also a number of nieces and nephews including Julie Hutchins Gentry and her  husband Dean who he was very close to.

A graveside service will be held at two o'clock Monday, January 28, 2019 at Eternal Hills Memorial Park with Reverend Kevin Rohm officiating.  No formal visitation is planned but those wishing to pay their respects may do so from 1 until 3 PM Sunday afternoon in The Padgett and King Chapel.
