Doris Elaine Lanford Cantrell, 85 of Forest City died Friday, September 28, 2018 at the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Born May 1, 1933 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina she was the daughter of the late John Barnett Lanford and Mary Louise Frey Lanford. Elaine and her husband Wade came to Forest City in 1968 when he accepted the position of manager with Community Cash Stores. She was a faithful member of the Bethany Baptist Church having served in numerous capacities and was well known for her 45 years of raising Poodles and Yorkshire Terriers as well as several other breeds. She also enjoyed many handmade crafts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Earl Cantrell in 1995
Surviving are her daughter, Debbie Cantrell McDaniel of Forest City; two sons, Michael Wade Cantrell and wife, Melissa, and Timothy Earl Cantrell, all of Forest City; Six grandchildren, Matthew McDaniel and wife, Ashley, Deanna McDaniel Benz and husband, Justin, Micaela Cantrell and fiance, Wesley Flynn, Mandel Cantrell and fiance, Marlee Whisenant, Jordan Mauri Cantrell and Johnathan Cole Cantrell; five great-grandchildren. two sisters, Edwina "Winkie" Seay and Geraldine "Doodle" Bailey and husband John, all of Spartanburg, SC; one half-sister, Fonda Allen, and two half-brothers, Mickey Lanford and wife, Brenda, and Reggie Lanford and wife, Nancy, all of Green Creek, NC.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning, October 1, 2018 at eleven o'clock at the Bethany Baptist Church with the Reverend Chris Fox officiating. A private interment will be held in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 4 until 6 p.m. at The Padgett & King Mortuary and also following the service at the church.
