Dorothy Lee Davis

Dorothy Lee Davis, age 93 of Forest City, died Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at her residence following  a sudden illness.  Dorothy was born on April 21, 1926 in McDowell County and was a daughter of the late William Calvin Davis and Arrie Williams Davis.  She worked for many years at Burlington Industries at the Caroleen Plant and later for Fieldcrest Cannon where she retired. 

Dorothy was  a lifelong Baptist and she enjoyed her yard and the outdoors and was happiest when tending her flowers and watching birds. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Clyde Davis, Worth Davis, J. C. Davis, and Charles Davis as well as sisters, Mary Sue Davis and Carrie Hollifield.

Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews as well as two special nieces, Amy Hudson and husband Tim, Lynn Ruff and husband Mike and their children, T. J. Hudson, Angela Hudson Jolley, and Conrad and Bennett Ruff.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday, December 15, 2019 in The Padgett and King Funeral Chapel with The Reverend Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating.  Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1 until 2 o'clock Sunday prior to the service at the mortuary.
