Doris Chatham Parris, age 88, of Forest City, NC died, Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the Brookdale Assisted Living Center. Born August 22, 1929 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Ensign Chatham and Tennie Boone-Chatham. Doris was a member of the Crestview Baptist Church and loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She went to Central High School and retired from Stonecutter Mills after 47 years. Doris had a great sense of humor, compassion and love for others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Joseph C. Parris Jr. and her son Tony E. Parris. She had 5 siblings, Earl Chatham, Dazel Chatham, Faye Guffey, Edna Hollifield, and Boyce Chatham, who all preceded her in death.
Those left to miss her and cherish her memory include her daughter, Terri Parris of Summerville, SC; two grandchildren, Trent Parris (Megan) and Allison Parris Tate (Parker); her aunt Maefrey West, two great-grandsons Logan Parris and Eli Tate. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The funeral services will be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon, Tuesday, January 30, 2018, in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Kevin Rohm officiating. Interment will follow in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park (formerly Sunset Memorial Park). The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home.
