Dessie Chapman

BOSTIC , NORTH CAROLINA

Dessie Hollifield Chapman, age 94 of Bostic, died Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Hospice of The Carolina Foothills in Forest City.  Born July 14, 1925 in Rutherford County she was a daughter of the late Quinton and Pearl Jeanette Wells Hollifield and was a  graduate of Sunshine High School.

Dessie worked more than forty years for Cone Mills at the Florence Plant and she was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.  She is also remembered for selling Avon products for many years.

Survivors include her sister, Jessie Maloney, her nephew, Johnny Maloney and wife JoAnn, her nieces, Marilyn Butler and Janet Gettys as well as step-daughters, Ruth Shook, Helen Murray and husband Glenn, and Shirley Toney and husband Foy.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 o'clock Friday, January 10, 2020 in  The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Sam Burleson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o'clock prior to the service at the mortuary.
