David Ray

E. David Ray, age 76 of the Sunshine Community, Bostic, died Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at his residence.  David was born on May 3, 1943 in Connersville, Indiana and was a son of the late William Ray and Mary Rasner Ray. 

David was a member of Sunshine United Methodist Church and a member  and twice Past-Master of Hollis Masonic Lodge No. 535 AF&AM.  David enjoyed visiting other area  lodges and was a devoted mason.  He worked for Rutherford County School and retired as custodian at Chase Middle School.  David also was a veteran of the Vietnam War having  served in the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Harrison Ray of the home, a brother, Bill Ray of Central, South Carolina, and brother-in-law, Roy Harrison of Sunshine.

The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock on Thursday, January 2, 2020 in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Keys Pendleton officiating.  Interment will follow in the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o'clock Thursday morning prior to the service at the mortuary.
