Clara Ross Obituary

Clara Mae Shoffner Ross, the wife of the late John Graham Ross, died Sunday, September 2, 2018  at Fair Haven of  Bostic, NC.


Clara Mae was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus L. Shoffner of Burlington, NC and was preceded in death by her four brothers. She was born August 20,1916 and celebrated her 102 birthday August 20, 2018.


She attended Elon College and Mars Hill College. While working at the Chamber of Commerce of Burlington she met her future husband, Graham, who was with Firestone Corporation. They were married September 24,1940. After serving our country during WWII Graham returned home and they moved to Forest City.


Clara Mae is survived by her daughter, Dianne Ross Pue, son-in-law, Art Pue of Seabrook Island, S.C, Two grandsons, Arthur Ross Pue and Brandon Clarke Pue of Charlotte. Three great granddaughters, Holt, Hattie and Wren Pue of Charlotte. Two nephews, Joe Freeman of Forest City and Bill Shoffner of Burlington. Two nieces, Edith Mae Shoffner Hoogenboom of New York City and Vickie Lynn Shoffner.


Clara Mae especially loved playing bridge, bingo, reading and planting caladiums. She enjoyed so much her Sunday School class at the First Baptist Church, where she was a member.


A very special thank you to Fair Haven, Bostic N.C. who provided a loving, caring environment for the past five years. The family is sincerely grateful! A thank You to Hospice of Rutherford County who have been so supportive through these last few weeks.
 

A private memorial service will be held at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church  cemetery. The family request no flowers and memorials to be sent to Fair Haven, 149 Fairhaven Drive, Bostic NC 28018 or Hospice of The Carolina Foothills, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
