Christopher Ives Harris

Christopher Ives "Smiley" Harris, age 68 of Forest City died Sunday, October 7, 2018 at his residence.  Chris was born August 19, 1950 in Rutherford County and was a son of the late George Edwin and Elizabeth Barber Harris.  He worked for 23 years with Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Forest City and then for many years with North State Gas Company where he retired.  Chris was reared in the First United Methodist Church of Forest City and a graduate of East Rutherford High School.  He was a faithful supporter of East Rutherford High School, especially the football team.  He could be found at the stadium on any football night supporting the team.  Chris also enjoyed coaching little league baseball and was a loyal N.C. State fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Harris.

Survivor include his wife, Ann Flack Harris of the home, two brothers, Ed Harris of Forest City and Tan Harris and wife Audrey of Hickory, a sister, Alice Elizabeth Harris of Morganton, a sister-in-law, Desiree Harris of Forest City.  Chris had a wonderful and loving relationship with his nephews , Todd Harris, Trevor Harris, and Thad Harris all of Forest City as well as great-nieces and nephew.

DUE TO WEATHER THE FUNERAL LOCATION HAS BEEN CHANGED FROM GRAVESIDE TO THE PADGETT AND KING CHAPEL AT 11 AM.with Reverend Faye Herbin officiating.  Visitation will be from 6 until 8 PM Wednesday evening at Padgett and King.  The family will be at the home of Desiree Harris on Georgia Avenue, Forest City.
