Carie Smawley Obituary

Carie Hutchins Smawley, age 88 died February 27, 2019 at Autumn Care of Saluda where she was a resident. A former resident of Forest City, Carie was a native of Rutherford County and a daughter of the late Memory and Lora Lookadoo Hutchins. She was a 1947 graduate of Sunshine High School and a Baptist.

Carie was the former owner and operator of the Shake Shop in Spindale and the widow of Cyrus Smawley. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Bennick and Doris Huntsinger as well as a brother, Carl Hutchins.

Survivors include her sister, Lola Hutchins Freeman and husband Bob of Sunshine.

A private graveside service was held at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Padgett and King Mortuary & Crematory is in charge and an online guest registry is available at www.padgettking.com
