Billy Morrow Obituary

Billy Ralph Morrow, age 88 of Forest City died Thursday, October 11, 2018 at his residence.  Billy was born on May 27, 1930 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina and was the son of the late Ralph Jennings and Nora Jolley Morrow.  He and his wife Barbara moved to Forest City in 1963 where Billy went to work as plant manager for Skyland Textiles.  He worked for Skyland for 25 years retiring as Director of Manufacturing.  Billy then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received his GRI certification in Real Estate appraisal.  He continued to work in real estate until he retired a second time at the age of 80.

Billy was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Forest City where he had served as a deacon and on numerous committees.  He also attended Clemson College when it was a military school and later entered the United States Army serving in Korea.  He was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain.  Billy also served four years in the National Guard.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Barbara Hayes Morrow of the home, a son Steven Lynn Morrow of Forest City, a daughter, Cristi Morrow Donaldson and husband Herb of Johnson City, TN, three grandchildren, Steve Cody Morrow, Kelly Barco, Paige Donaldson, and great-granddaughter, Vivenne Barco.

The family will hold a memorial service at a later date and no formal services are planned at this time. The family respectfully request that memorials be made to Hospice of The Carolina Foothills, Post Office Box 336, Forest City, North Carolina 28043.
