Betty Morrison Jones, age 85 of Forest City, died Friday at Oak Grove Health Care in Rutherfordton. She was born November 2, 1932 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Ray and Elizabeth Wall Morrison. Betty worked for Doncaster Tanner Companies where she retired as a seamstress instructor and operator. She was a 1949 graduate of R-S Central High School and a faithful member of Long Branch Road Baptist Church where she was a charter member and served as the first Church Clerk. Betty was also a former Sunday School Teacher and Vacation Bible School worker.
In 1949 Betty married Robert Reid Jones, Jr. who was the retired Director of the Rutherford County Department of Social Services and together they built a Christian marriage while raising their three children. Her husband, Reid, died in 2002 and her son, Robert Reid "Bobby" Jones, III died in 2016. Her sister, Martha Ann Yarborough and brother James Morrison also preceded her in death.
Betty was a woman of strong faith as well as a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include daughters, Lynn Sisk (Mike) of Rutherfordton, LouAnne Morrow of Rutherfordton, a brother, Charles Morrison of Shelby. There are 11 grandchildren, Beth Archer(Jeff), Robby Jones (Kristina), Joey Sisk, Kyle Sisk (Jessica), Nicholas Sisk (Ashley), Lindsay Chapman (Jordan), Taylor Putnam (Daniel), Tyler Morrow, Kaytlin Hutchins, Savannah Hutchins, and Destiny Hutchins, and 13 great-grandchildren, Faith Archer, Luke Archer, Kylie Sisk, Emily Sisk, Easton Sisk, Ryleigh Sisk, Eva Sisk, Reid Sisk, Gary Blankenship, Noah Blankenship, Seth Leslie, Cameron Sisk, and J. R. Bryant.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Long Branch Road Baptist Church with the Reverend Jerry Ruppe officiating. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery . Visitation will be from 6 until 8 o'clock Monday evening at Padgett and King
