Betty Hames Harrill, age 93, of Forest City went to be with the Lord on December 20, 2018 at Fairhaven Home of Bostic. She was born October 18, 1925 to the late Gilbert Holland Hames, Sr. and Margaret Kiser Hames. Betty was a member of First United Methodist Church of Forest City.
She was a graduate of Unicoi County High School, Erwin, Tennessee and Johnson City Business College, Johnson City, Tennessee.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Bostic Harrill, as well as her sisters, Mary Sue Hames, Mozelle Hames Smith and Jeanne Hames Cash.
Survivors include daughter, Elizabeth Harrill Cheshire and husband Daryl of Forest City, grandson, Lee Hopper and wife Jill of Raleigh, granddaughters, Christy Ruff and husband, Jason of Wake Forest and Megan Rumfelt and husband, James of Forest City, great-grandchildren include Cameron and Regan Hopper; Jacob, Madison and Blythe Ruff, Chloe Rumfelt, a brother, Gilbert Holland Hames, Jr. of Charleston, SC, and sister, Billie Hames Robinette of Japer, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday, December 23, 2018 in the First United Methodist Church of Forest City with Reverend Faye Herbin officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church parlor from 2 until 3 o'clock Sunday prior to the service.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the compassionate staff at Fairhaven of Bostic, Hospice of The Carolina Foothills, and grandmother's special friend, Katherine Washington along with her son, Arnold.
