Barbara Ann (Ledbetter) Dodson

Barbara Ann Ledbetter Dodson, age 80 of Ellenboro, North Carolina died Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Oak Grove Health Care in Rutherfordton.  Barbara Ann was born July 1, 1937 in Cherokee County, South Carolina and was a daughter of the late Jacob Hobert Ledbetter and Maggie Price Ledbetter.  She was a graduate of Ellenboro High School where she was elected Class Profit and also attended Isothermal Community College where she earned a degree in business, computer science and ceramics.  Barbara Ann was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and formerly was a tutor at Ellenboro School.

She worked for sixty years at numerous jobs including Roses Stores and for Fiber Industries at Shelby where she retired from the Lab.  She was also the secretary for the family business, R & D Weavers in Ellenboro.  Her husband, Alfred Dodson as well as a brother, Jimmy Henry Ledbetter preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Detria Dodson Martin and her husband Robert of Ellenboro, a brother, Luther Ledbetter of Ellenboro, a sister, Sue Ledbetter Washburn of Rutherfordton, two grandsons, Bryan and Jacob Martin and her great-granddaughter, Anna Martin.  There are also a number of nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at three o'clock Sunday at Corinth Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Conner and Reverend Sam Henderson officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church from 2 until 3 pm Sunday prior to the service in the Sanctuary.  Memorials may be made to Hospice of The Carolina Foothills, Post Office Box 336, Forest City, North Carolina 28043.  The Padgett and King Mortuary & Crematory is in charge of arrangements and an online guest registry is available at www.padgettking.com
