Name: Harold Dewitt Hunter Date: December 6th, 1933 - January 30th, 2010 Obituary: Mr. Harold Dewitt Hunter, age 76, of Sloan Rd, Lyman, SC, died Saturday, January 30th 2010, at the Piedmont Living Center, Greer, SC. A native of Cleveland County, NC, he was a son of the late Lester Henry Hunter and Rose Morgan Hunter; a veteran having served in the US Army during the Korean War, retired as a heavy equipment operator for the Greenville County Schools, and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Whitesides Hunter in 2005. Survivors include a son, Michael Hunter of Lyman, SC, a daughter, Charlene Kidd of Inman, SC, and a sister, Jan Pate of Poteau, Ok. Five grandchildren, Kimberly Gowan of Forest City, Jason Gowan of Forest City, Heather Gibson of Fletcher, NC, Austin Hunter and Zachary Hunter of Lyman, SC, and five great-grandchildren, Shane Gowan, Madison Lee, Hunter Gowan, Jackson Gowan, and Aniya Warren. Graveside services will be held at two o'clock Wednesday, February 3, 2010 in the Cool Springs Cemetery with Reverend Danny McCain officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the cemetery.
